One of the most peaceful things you can do in Cambodia is simply spend time with elephants. These gentle giants are calm and friendly, and a few hours in their company is a welcome change of pace after busy temple days in Siem Reap.
Why time with elephants feels so calming
Elephants move slowly and deliberately. Watching them eat, splash in the river or cover themselves in mud makes you slow down too. Away from the traffic and crowds, the countryside of Banteay Srei district is quiet and green.
Moments to look forward to
- Preparing a meal of rice, rice bran, mangoes and bananas, then watching the elephants enjoy it
- Sharing a mud bath, the moment most visitors start laughing
- Standing in the river while the elephants bathe
- A quiet break with seasonal fruit at the end of the program
Tips for a relaxed visit
- Choose the morning round (pick-up 7:30–8:00) if you prefer cooler air
- Put your phone away for part of the visit and simply watch
- Ask your guide about each elephant’s personality
- Pack a change of clothes and a towel so you can relax afterwards
We are waiting for your visit. Read the visitor guide or book online.
