More Than an Experience: Meaningful Time with Elephants

Asian elephant at Cambodia Elephant Sanctuary

A visit to Cambodia Elephant Sanctuary is more than an activity to tick off in Siem Reap. It is a chance to create meaningful memories beyond typical tourism: to spend time with elephants without causing them harm, and to learn about their environment and why animal conservation matters.

From working elephants to a calmer life

The elephants at the sanctuary spent years working in tourism and logging. Today they are cared for by veterinarians and experienced mahouts, and riding and chains are not part of the program. Read more about our no riding, no chains policy.

Interaction that respects the elephants

Instead of rides or shows, you meet the elephants on the ground. You prepare their food, join them in a mud bath and help bathe them in the river. Each activity follows the elephants’ natural routine and the guidance of the mahouts.

How your visit helps

Every visit supports the sanctuary and the people who care for its elephants every day. Choosing an experience without riding also shows that travellers want ethical elephant tourism, and sharing what you learned helps friends and family choose responsibly too.
