What to Bring to Cambodia Elephant Sanctuary

What to bring cam2 - Cambodia Elephant Sanctuary

Your visit to Cambodia Elephant Sanctuary is hands-on: you prepare food, join the elephants in a mud bath and bathe with them in the river. Packing the right things makes the day far more comfortable. Here is what to bring, and why.

The essentials

  • Swimsuit: wear it under your clothes, because you will be in mud and river water.
  • Change of clothes: something dry and clean for the ride back to your hotel.
  • Towel: to dry off after the river bath.
  • Sandals: ideally with a strap, so they stay on in mud and water.
  • Bag for wet clothes: a plastic or dry bag keeps the rest of your things dry.

Notice: there are shower rooms for visitors, so you can rinse off and change before the drive back.

Also worth packing

  • Sunscreen and a hat for the time outdoors
  • Insect repellent
  • A waterproof pouch if you want photos near the water
  • Any personal medication you need during the day

What to wear

Choose light clothes you do not mind getting wet and muddy. Leave jewellery and valuables at the hotel, as small items are easy to lose in the mud, and tie long hair back before the mud bath.

Good to know

  • Seasonal fruit and drinking water are provided during the program.
  • Hotel pick-up and drop-off in the Siem Reap area are included; the drive takes about an hour each way.
  • Pregnant guests are welcome, but some forest paths are uneven, so please take extra care.
